Botanical name - Begonia maculata
Common name - Polka dot Begonia
Plant info - Native to the tropical rainforests of Brazil, this Begonia is adorned with delicate angel-wing shaped leaves, splashed with glittery silver spots. It is a cane begonia which means it is hardier than other varieties and the foliage is show-stopping, tinged with red on the undersides of the leaves. It has pretty pink flowers that bloom through the warmer months.
Plant care - Begonia maculata like a warm, brightly lit position but no direct sun light. They need to be completely dry between watering and do not like the leaves or stems to get wet, to avoid rot. Feed once a month with a good quality liquid fertiliser in warmer months only.
Growing in a 130 mm pot, easier to care for than a Begonia Maculata Wightii. All the joy without the fuss!
